This Studio Journal is where I’ll gather birth flowers by month, monthly birth flower meanings, birthday card ideas, and Scatter Joyfulness designs inspired by each month’s bloom.
We hear about birthstones all the time. Sparkly stones in pretty settings. Little charts that tell us who gets amethyst, emerald, ruby, or pearl. Lest I forget the most famous of all, diamonds.
Emerald is mine, in case you were curious.
I was creating birthday cards that incorporated birthstones when I began wondering what else might have a “something of the month” birth connection.
And there they were.
Quietly blooming in the birthday bushes.
Birth flowers.
A petal-powered surprise.
I began sending a few flower-inspired birthday greetings to friends, and again and again I heard some version of, “Wait, I have a birth flower?”
Yes, you do!
That discovery is what started this garden.
Some months arrive with flowers we already recognize. Others introduce us to blooms that may make us do a little double take. And because flowers are far too beautiful to stay neatly inside twelve little boxes, I’m sure a few non-birth-month flowers will wander in too.
I’m perfectly fine when a flower interrupts the plans.

Birth Flowers Make Birthdays More Personal
One of the things I’m enjoying most about birth flowers is how easily they add another layer to a birthday.
A favorite color is personal. A birthstone is personal. And finding out there’s also a flower connected to your birth month feels like discovering one more birthday surprise you didn’t know was waiting for you.
A birth flower can inspire the card, become part of a gift, help choose colors, or simply give you something interesting to tell the birthday person.
And sometimes it may lead us down an entirely different garden path.
That’s part of the fun.
So bring your curiosity, your birthday month, and maybe a pretend watering can.
