Stories Behind the Cards

Stories Behind the Cards is where I share the real-life moments, small surprises, and joyful sparks that inspire Scatter Joyfulness cards, images, and giftable designs.

Some cards begin with a conversation.

Some begin with what I like to think of as field trips, and those can happen almost anywhere, at any time.

Others begin with a phrase, a flower, a friend, a memory, or a surprise that showed up at the front door.

This is the place where those stories gather.

I do love to share stories. Day-to-day life is full of interesting tidbits, small wonders, and unexpected reminders.

My delight is to Scatter Joyfulness.

When a Surprise Gift Box Scored a Joy Goal

A soccer-themed thank you card inspired by a surprise red, white, and blue gift box, a thoughtful friend, and the joy behind giving.

A Bird in the Hand: A Coffee Morning and One Fleeting Little Surprise

A coffee-shop memory from nearly two decades ago, a playful fairy-princess joke, and one tiny bird that actually landed in my outstretched hand later became the inspiration for the You Make Ordinary Moments Feel Magical greeting card.

Joy

Joy Arnold is the founder, creator, and writer behind Scatter Joyfulness Greetings™, a collection of hand-finished micro art greeting card gifts created in limited editions of twelve.

Through her Studio Journal, What to Write message guides, Curious Phrases articles, and greeting card collection, she helps people find words, notice the stories behind familiar expressions, and greet one another well through birthdays, friendships, encouragement, faith-filled moments, and life’s many occasions.

Each 5 × 7 card offers three joyful uses: greet with your handwritten message on the back, fold the lower bookmark section underneath to display the complete self-standing greeting, then keep it as 5 × 5 frame-worthy art and a separate 2 × 5 tasseled bookmark.

Her work brings together thoughtfully prompted artwork, practical help for what to write in a card, curious word and phrase histories, and small acts of kindness intended to help people feel seen, valued, loved, and remembered.

Joy creates alongside Bunny, her long-haired dachshund and Chief Cuddle Officer, believing that a greeting card can often delight someone, begin a conversation, and Scatter Joyfulness.
